Struy (Scottish GaelicAn t-Srùigh or Scottish GaelicSruidh) is a small village at the end of Glen Strathfarrar, about 15 km south-west of Beauly in the Highland council area of Scotland.

Description

The confluence of the River Farrar and the River Glass is a short distance to the east of Struy, here the rivers join to become the River Beauly. The River Farrar is crossed by Thomas Telford's five arches Struy Bridge a short distance to the north, this carries the A831 road. A minor road crosses the Mauld Bridge, over the River Glass, to the southeast of Struy.

Nature reserve and buildings

Struy is the place to gain access to the nature reserve of Glen Strathfarrar and four Munros. The road is private and only a limited number of cars are allowed to access through the gate.

Erchless Castle lies about 1.5 km northeast of Struy. The turreted and crenellated building was built in about 1600 and modified in 1790 and 1895. Nearby are the remains of an Iron-Age Dun which measures twelve metres by thirteen metres.

Struy Church is one of three churches that make up Kilmorach and Erchless parish. The main church at Beauly has weekly services where the services in Struy happen every fortnight.

Our food is always presented to a high standard. Our local staff, all from within a 10-mile radius, are smartly dressed in black and white and have a strong knowledge of the dishes they serve; what it is, where it has come from and how it’s cooked. Game, venison, seafood and shellfish are always on the menu.

Local Produce

We go to great lengths to ensure that we source the finest of local produce and have many local suppliers on our doorstep; by means of both word of mouth and 14 years of experience in the business, we are able to keep up to date with information on all new local producers or changes in what existing producers can offer.

We ensure that our menus always state the locality from which produce has originated – for example, award-winning haggis and black pudding from Munro’s in Beauly. West coast fish merchant and Williamson’s Inverness also deliver twice weekly, allowing us to maintain the freshness of produce served at the Hotel. We are now serving Applecross Bay prawns, Torridon & Shieldaig hot smoked salmon, oysters, mussels and much, much more. Delivered straight from shore to door several times a week. Enjoy Strathglass venison and local cheeses, and wash it all down with local ales.
